About Verweven Strategies
Verweven (vɛrvɛvɛn) = Interwoven
Verweven Strategies is dedicated to connecting people, resources and ideas for lasting change.
I chose the Dutch word for interwoven — verweven — for my business name. Inspired by my Dutch ancestry, I am passionate about weaving together people and ideas to create real actionable solutions that have the power to renew and transform your organization or community.
At Verweven Strategies, I will work with you to design strategies that weave people and ideas together for lasting change.
My Journey to Verweven
My parents and grandparents taught me the importance of community service. Through their example and my own experiences, I’ve developed a strong desire to bring people and ideas together to create something new, something strong, and something that lasts.
Growing up in Southern Iowa’s farming communities, I internalized the core values of hard work, land stewardship, and the power of community connections. These values continue to guide me today.
My professional journey began with a degree in nursing and a desire to explore the world, which led me to Sierra Leone. It was there that I discovered my love for community work, realizing the importance of uplifting marginalized voices and centering community dreams in my efforts.
With a strong commitment to community-centered work, I pursued a graduate degree in community development. My professional experience has since spanned health care, education, and philanthropy.
The common thread in my experiences is service. Whether providing direct patient care or by working in health care administrative roles, I learned to lead with a servant’s heart. I took those lessons of service to students and families in educational settings, working to give voice to community in support of students.
My time in philanthropy provided me with insights essential to weaving all parts of the system together for rural areas to thrive.
When I’m not working with community leaders, you will find me at the hobby farm I share with my husband. I’m likely in my garden, out for a run, tending to my chickens, or simply enjoying all that Northern Minnesota has to offer.
